What is ZetaChain?

Modified on Tue, 06 Feb 2024 at 12:32 PM

ZetaChain is a blockchain developed to address communication issues between blockchains, enabling each blockchain to communicate and collaborate in a multi-chain environment. It facilitates connectivity between both Smart contract-supporting and non-supporting blockchains.

ZetaChain is developed using a Proof-of-Authority consensus algorithm on the Cosmos SDK protocol and Tendermint Consensus mechanism. The consensus system will transition to Proof of Stake as time passes.

Additionally, ZetaChain supports Smart contracts, allowing developers to create applications on the ZetaChain and collaborate within the ecosystem. Applications built on this network are referred to as Omnichain dApps.

Founders of ZetaChain

Dan Romero, Sam Rosenblum, and John Yi are the founders of ZetaChain. They are early members of Coinbase and were also involved in creating the Basic Attention Token (BAT). Additionally, they have been investors in various projects within the cryptocurrency industry.

Furthermore, ZetaChain has Nathalie McGrath as an advisor, who serves as the Head of People at Coinbase. She played a pivotal role in the company’s growth from 10 employees to over 800. Juan Suarez, a consultant for Coinbase from 2013 to 2022, is also part of the advisory team for ZetaChain.
