What is the Bored Ape Yacht Club?

Bored Ape Yacht Club, or BAYC for short, is the collection of NFT pictures that is currently one of the most famous and valuable, created by Yuga Labs and launched in April 2021.

Bored Ape may look like an ordinary JPEG picture, but its specialty hides behind its creation. Bored Ape was created using a computer algorithm to generate and randomize its aspects, including facial structure, clothing, accessory, background, and so on, making each ape unique and there are only a limited number of 10,000 Bored Apes.

At launch, Bored Ape’s floor price was around 0.08 ETH or 6,300 Baht during that time. However, in March 2022, its floor price on OpenSea has reached 118 ETH or around 10,735,050 Baht.

One of the factors behind its increasing value is that many celebrities in entertainment communities own these Apes. For example, the most recent one is Justin Bieber who bought Bored Ape #3001 on 29 January 2022 at the price of 500 ETH or 45 million Baht, another notable one is Eminem who bought Bored Ape #9005 at the price of 123.45 ETH or 11 million Baht. There are more celebrities who own Bored Ape including Paris Hilton, Steve Aoki, Snoop Dogg, and more.

With many celebrities behind Bored Ape and the community often holding meeting events that are only open to Bored Ape owners, holding an NFT of Bored Ape Yacht Club can be considered owning a VIP pass to join the event and have a chance to meet the celebrities. In addition, many projects on blockchain that are being created by Yuga Labs may integrate Bored Ape into the ecosystem as well.
